One hundred thousand years

One hundred thousand years

A family huddles

around a blazing fire

everyone wrapped

in animal skins

The children munch

on what is left

on the bones

after a big meal

I'm struggling to find words

says one of the elders

sipping from a wooden bowl

filled with sweet water

they gather during the warm season

and preserve in the snow

near their cave

for moments like this one

We see just a few fires

from here on this hill

very far from us

on other slopes

and in other valleys

In 100,000 years from now

there will be fires everywhere

so many fires

that the whole earth will burn
