Why there are so many love songs

Why there are so many love songs

We sing about love

more than anything else

because we are human

the seekers of meaning

in the fractured reality

we call the anthropocene

Love is

the cosmological constant

the source of equilibrium

the order which emerges

from the apparent chaos

of the multiverse

we call humanity

Love is

as visible as gravity is

the force which changes

our disparate trajectories

bending us

toward the light

Love for another

is a ripple in spacetime

love for others

the wrinkles

sparkling in the light

of our only sun

falling upon the water

of the great lake

we call humankind

Love depicts

the prevalence of kindness

the domino effect

of spreading goodness

the waves of peace

breaking upon the shores

of our common existence

Love is the particle

the source of our unity

and hate the antiparticle

which will annihilate us

We need more love songs

more music

and more words

which will entangle us all

on our journey

across the bridge

toward the greater good

Without love

the wave collapses

the candle in the dark flickers

and the light dies

Love is

the standard candle

the glow against which

everything is measured

We can’t afford to fail

we can’t afford

to sing out of tune

Discord is not an option

We are the orchestra

There is only one universe
